About the project

Why?

I believe that everyone can create the life of their dreams. This is why I quit my job in 2013. At this time I didn’t really know where I was going but I was sure my life needed some modification. This project is the outcome of a 2 years journey across Australia and New Zealand. Now, I want to inspire people through my photographs, videos and adventures.

What?

Today, we are living in a society where we want everything to happen now but ironically just a few of us are living in the now. I want to live every step of my journey. That’s why I won’t use any engine to travel from Wanaka to Paris by bicycle and sailing boat. Only the power of my legs and the force of the wind. By traveling at a human speed, I will be able to connect with the local population to create powerful images and fully experiment every part of the journey.

How?

The challenge is to link by bicycle and sailing boats Wanaka, an amazing little town based in the south island of New Zealand to Paris, the city I left to start my journey two years ago. Along the travel I want to create a big picture of our world through my lens and my words to inspire everyone to take action to make it a better place for the next generation. Starting now. Pixnbike will be a human adventure across the world.

My story

I’m Alexandre Gendron, ex engineer, I quit my job on the 1st of December 2013 and said good bye to my comfortable monthly revenue to experience what life really is. To live in the unknown of what tomorrow will bring.

I’m not rich in money but I’ve never been as rich as I am now in experiences… and the good thing is that we cannot really loose experience. Once you got it, it’s for ever.

A lot of people told me that I’m so lucky to live where I used to live since I left. It’s not being lucky it’s just a choice. Everyone can make it. The only problem is FEAR. What are you going to do? How will you earn money? Where will you sleep? I asked myself the same questions at the beginning. I have no answers to give you but I know that you should trust yourself and go for it!

Fear is the only boundary to reach all of your dreams. I’ve been homeless, I’ve been starving, yes… but i used to live in the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, I’ve had very well paid jobs, that I quit as well to keep traveling, I met so many awesome people, I’ve been in love, I’ve been depressed, I’ve been happy and I’ve been sad, I missed a lot of people and family but I never gave up and after all of those experiences I’m here now, riding my bicycle around the world and photographing it, my real passion and guess what… I’m still alive, really happy and don’t have any regrets. Life is an experiment. Life is a game. Don’t take it too seriously. Play it! You are allowed to make mistakes! Every success is just the result of a few failures.

Follow your dreams, every experience, pleasant or unpleasant, is building who you really are. Accept it as it is and trust it.
