ToutTerrain is a German brand with a french name meaning they’re made for “all terrains”. They design and produce high quality touring bikes on order. I’m really happy that Tout terrain accepted to be a part of my adventure because I really like their philosophy less is more to focus on quality rather than quantity.
I ordered their flagship, a Silkroad equipped with the simplest gear possible to be able to maintain and fix it all around the world with basic tools. There is some highlights of the bike:
- Front dynamo hub with The plug. It will allow me to charge a battery and my small devices while riding over 12km/h.
- Built-in rear rack offering the possibility to carry 160kg on the bicycle, me included.
- Steel frame (strong and comfortable)

The bike have been made and will be shipped to New Zealand soon. I will update this post as soon as I receive it to show you more photographs of the bike in real. Stay tuned for more information!

Hi – I assume you have chosen a rohloff hub, and was wondering if you’ve decided to go with the carbon drive.
Hi Martin,
I’ve chosen the most basic and cheapest option. A LX derailleur 10 speeds.
I met few people already using rohloff and they are all happy with it!!
