Waking up in a real bed in a sailing boat. What a treat!

Today, to thank Helen and Tony for invited me to stay last night I offered them my help to remove the old paint of the boat all around the hull. Then, we’ve been around to put some special coat on the spots where we could see the concrete in order to protect it.

Tony is managing the rust. With a spray he can transform the rust into metal then put a mix on top to fill the holes on the rudder, which is in metal. It’s been good to make working my upper body after using my legs everyday for the last couple of weeks.

I’ve learnt so many things about how to look after a boat today it’s really interesting! So, I haven’t found any lift yet today to go from Waikawa to Wellington but I’m full of hope and I can feel it will happen soon. Of course, I’m not waiting for it to happen, I do everything I can to make it happen! As I haven’t find any ride yet, tomorrow I will miss the Wellington Instameet where I could have share a lot of great time with friends. But this is life. Maybe something better will happen instead who knows?

And as the weather was great, we’ve decided to go for kayaking around the bay with Helen in between two painting session.

Today, I’ve realised one more time that instagram is an awesome way to meet new people. Sarah (@sezlou) linked me with Lisa who should be able to help me for sailing out of New Zealand from the top of North Island. If this part can be organised before I arrive there it would be a great thing!

Tomorrow, I might go for sailing with Mark, the commodore of Waikawa Sailing club and we will use this opportunity to send a message on the safety channel sailing radio about my trip. As everyone is listening this channel in the area, it should reach enough people to find a ride! Hopefully.

One more time, New Zealand showed me that everyone living here is really nice!
